2 Corinthians4:4NKJV

whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Ephesians 6:10-17 NKJV

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

We said, the first step to moving from defeat and into certain victory, is to…

  1. Recognize the source of the opposition as being satan – and stand your ground.

The second step to moving from defeat and into victory, is to…

  1. Make sure that the promises of God – the Scriptures – cover the things you ask for and are believing for.

Because if you don’t know the Scriptures, you will not know the power of God.

Matthew 22:29 NLT

Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”

And the devil knows that’s where the power lies. And that is why he endeavors to get us away from the scriptures all the time and tells us it’s more fun spending time on Facebook. But we need to put our face in this book, The Bible.

Luke 5:1 says “they pressed to hear the Word of God”. There are times, in fact most times, you are going to have press the hear the Word of God.

You can’t have a casual approach towards it. Because the devil is working 24/7 to get your attention on something else.

The third step to moving from defeat and into victory, is to…

  1. Make sure you are not living in sin – practicing wrongdoing.

The fourth step to moving from defeat and into victory, is to…

  1. Make sure no doubt or unbelief is permitted in your life concerning the promises of God.

Do you know what the cure is for unbelief? Just feed your faith EVERYDAY on the Word of God. Feed your faith with preaching messages that will erase all doubt and unbelief.

We said step 2 was to find scriptures in God’s Word that promise you what you are asking for or believing for. Now, step 4 is don’t let doubt or unbelief make you question and pull back from what God promised you. Because if it’s in God’s Word, it belongs to you.

If anything is trying to keep you from having it, that is the devil and not God. Satan, as we have seen, is the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4).

Many of the things we believe for and pray about, which the promises of God cover, have to come to pass in this world where Satan is god. He will do everything in the world to keep it from coming. This does not mean God doesn’t hear you the first time you pray—or that the answer is not on the way.

A good illustration of this, is in the book of Daniel.

Daniel set himself to seek God. He fasted. He ate no pleasant bread for 21 days.

God sent an angel with the answer but it took him 21 days in getting it through to Daniel.

Daniel 10:11-13 NKJV

And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

God did not send the answer the 21stday. He sent the answer the first day.

What happened? Look at verse 13

13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

This prince of Persia did not want the angel to get through to Daniel with the answer. The prince of Persia was over in the spirit world where evil spirits were ruling that nation. Those spirits didn’t want the angel to get through with the answer.

God heard Daniel the first day. God sent the answer the first day. God sent the answer when you prayed, too. It may not have materialized yet, but He sent the answer the first day when you prayed.

Many people, if the answer does not materialize right away, drop back into unbelief and doubt. They say, “Maybe it wasn’t the will of God to begin with.” No! If God said it and promised it, then He wants us to have it. God will not provide something for us and then put it under lock and key so that we can’t have it. Realize that it is not God who is withholding it from you. It is the devil who is hindering you and trying to keep it from manifesting. So stand your ground. Make sure no doubt or unbelief is permitted in your life concerning the promises of God. Constantly confess and confirm that God’s Word is true.

Say that…”God’s Word is true”.

And God’s Word will keep working in your heart even with doubt in your head.

Acts 27:9-11 NKJV

Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them, 10 saying, “Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives.” 11 Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul.

Paul had a perception in his spirit, an unction that this trip was not going to end well. But they didn’t listen to Paul. Any of you’ve been there. I’ve been there too. Sometimes I didn’t pay attention to God like I should have and got into trouble. But thank God that He has mercy on us anyhow.

Verse 13-25 NKJV

13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their desire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete. 14 But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon. 15 So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let her drive. 16 And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda, we secured the skiff with difficulty. 17 When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands, they struck sail and so were driven.

18 And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. 19 On the third day we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands. 20 Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up. 21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.

There are times when we incur disaster and loss because we never listened to God and others. But God is a God of restoration.

22 And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. 23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, 24 saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ 25 Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.

Listen what Paul said, “I believe God that it shall be just as it was told me”. People say, “yes, but an angel appeared to Paul”. The Bible says “we have a more sure and steadfast Word than angels”.

Paul said, “I belong to God. I serve God. I believe God”.

We all go through the hard places of life. The crisis of life come to all of us. We are not immune to them because satan is the god of this world. He is the one who sends the trials. It isn’t God. It is the devil putting pressure on us. He wants to find out if we really believe what we claim to believe. That is why he always comes immediately after you’ve heard the Word of God to try and steal the Word of faith from your heart.

He wants to steal truth. He will try to rob you. He wants you and I to sit depressed and wallow in unbelief and self-pity. If he can get it right and steal truth, then he can defeat us. But don’t allow him. Resist him. Stand your ground. “I believe God that it shall be just as it was told me”.

Remember this: Thoughts may come and persist in staying. But thoughts that are not put into word or action die unborn.

Remember this also. The most holy saints of God have found, at times, thoughts in their mind that their heart resented.

Don’t listen to your head. Don’t let your head dominate you. Let your heart dominate you. Let your spirit dominate you.

1 Peter 5:7-9 NKJV

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

You are not designed by God to carry burdens and cares. That’s God’s job. You need to hand it over to Him, because He cares for you.

Then what must you do after that?

8Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith…

The devil wants to devour you. He wants to rob you, steal from you, and kill you. So wake up and start resisting him. Say, “devil, you are not devouring me, or my family, you are not going to steal, kill or destroy anything of mine anymore. I resist you and stand my ground against you’.

Matthew 27:25 NKJV

And all the people answered, Let His blood be on us and on our children.
