Luke 10:38-42 NKJV

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.

Martha welcomed Jesus into her house, but she was overly occupied and too busy (Luke 10:40 AMPC). She was distracted and accused Jesus of not caring for her and blaming her sister Mary for not helping her.

Have you ever been there? I think we all have.

She didn’t realize that the Miracle Worker, Jesus, was right there in her house to multiply the food she was trying to serve them. She should have been sitting at the feet of Jesus and hearing His Word, just like Mary.

I like what the NLT says in verse 42, There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Mary discovered it. She discovered that sitting and hearing God’s Word was the most important thing above everything else. I pray that you too will discover, that nothing, absolutely nothing, is more important than hearing God’s Word on a daily basis.

Jesus said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things but one thing is needed” (V41-42).

Many things but one thing.

Many things but one thing.

Many things but one thing.

The one thing, sitting at the feet of Jesus, and hearing His Word being taught, will take care of the many things you are worried and troubled about.

In other words, Jesus was saying, “Mary not helping you Martha is not your only problem. You are worried and troubled about many things”.

Today, don’t accuse Jesus of not caring for you, and don’t blame everyone else who is not helping you. People are not your Source, Jesus is. And He is right there inside of you to take care of every troubled situation that you are facing today in your house.

But you need to take responsibility for your life. Stop being overly occupied and too busy. Get quiet. Sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His Word. Get to Church this Sunday and hear God’s Word being preached to you.

Stop blaming everyone. Forgive everyone of everything. Perspective will come. Answers will come. Direction will come. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-8)

You are loved by Jesus. Welcome Him into your house today and let Him take care of everything.

You were not designed by God to carry burdens and cares. That’s His job. Your job is to hand it over to Him and let Him be your Care-Taker.

1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.
