John 15:1-8 NKJV
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
The Message says, “I am the Real Vine”.
It implies there are false vines. Jesus is saying, “I am the One who can heal you. I am the One who can deliver you and set you free. I am the One who can love you and forgive you. I am the One who can prosper and increase you”.
Many out there are offering you an alternative, a so-called better way, but it’s false. It’s not real. It’s not the genuine thing.
Matthew 24:5 TPT
For many will appear on the scene claiming my authority or saying about themselves, ‘I am God’s Anointed,’ and they will lead many astray.
If you stay connected to the True Vine, you will quickly recognize the fake vine. But if you don’t stay connected and remain vitally united and joined to Him, then when error comes, you can easily be swayed because you are not full of God’s Spirit to discern between good and evil.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Look at a branch. It has fruit on it because it’s connected to the source, the vine. The vine is the source of those grapes. Take the branch away from the vine. Leave it on the ground and see if it can produce anything on its own. It can’t. Jesus said, that’s how it is with Me. When people remove themselves from Me and try to make and bear fruit on their own, it doesn’t work.
Paul was a very educated man, but He said,
1 Corinthians 15:10 NKJV
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
He gives God the glory and He attributes Hs success to God and His grace.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Jesus is saying, Let’s just be clear. You are not the vine. You are not your own source. You are the branch and it requires you to be dependent on Me, stay connected to Me, in order to produce any kind of lasting fruit.
Without Me you can do nothing. Oh yes, you can accomplish some things in the flesh, but it will not be lasting. It will die off when you die and are gone. People will not remember what you did. But when you stay with Me, you will be bear fruit and your fruit will remain.
Verse 5 MSG
When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant.
Your relationship with Jesus must be intimate and real. Be transparent. Take off the mask. Judge yourself.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
When you are dry, the devil easily burns you with his fire and heat. But when you are full of sap, life, vitality, full of the Holy Spirit, the heat is all around you, but you are not burning. You are walking around singing and praising God.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
Verse 8 AMPC
You prove yourself to be TRUE FOLLOWERS of mine.
Your Most Important Relationship
You see, if your most important relationship, which is with the Lord, is not in order, then all your other relationships will be out of order, too. (Matthew 6:33)
God Himself has said in His Word that He wants to get into a close relationship with us.
1 Corinthians 1:9 NKJV
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
You must understand that the people in the OT longed for what we have now. They were not allowed to go into the presence of God and fellowship. There was a veil that separated them. But for us, because of Jesus and His precious blood that He shed for us, we can now enter into the Holy of Holies by the power and virtue that is in the blood of Jesus.
We have been invited to fellowship with the Most-High God, His Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. That’s the highest honor that could ever be conferred on us. That’s your calling. To fellowship with Him, walk with Him, talk with Him and discuss the things of life with Him.
Revelation 3:20 NKJV
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Every believer, I don’t care who you are, has the right to hear the voice of the Spirit of the living God. And not shouting at you from off in heaven somewhere, but from right there inside you. Some people say, “but God never says anything to me”. That’s where they’re wrong. He’s been talking to all of us. He sent His Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth, and He’s been doing His job just fine. The problem is, we haven’t spent enough time fellowshipping with Him and listening to Him to hear what He’s saying.
Say this continually – “God is speaking, and I am listening”.
John 10:1-5 NKJV
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
There are some people who don’t want to enter through the door, the right way. Stay submitted, be accountable. They want to enter another way.
2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.
When you hear somebody’s voice, check down here in your spirit. Do you have peace and a witness or do you feel hesitant and unsettled.
John 10:27 NKJV
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Many Christians think they are fellowshipping with Jesus, but most of the time, all they are really doing is having a string of emergency meetings – waiting until a crisis develops and then running to God for an answer.
Emergency praying may give you relief. But fellowship – the intimacy of everyday closeness – is what gives you joy.
Most people don’t know much about that kind of relationship with God. But the Apostle John calls that fellowship, and he says that kind of relationship with God is what gives us joy.
1 John 1:3-4 NKJV
3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
Your joy can be full of joy, regardless of what is happening around you.
Joy – is a Spiritual force. Happiness is based on happenings.
Here’s the bottom line:
You will never truly know God’s will and way for you – you will never know Him for who He really is – until you learn to fellowship with Him, developing a good friendship with Him, blessing Him with your friendship.
