Psalm 145:8-9 NKJV

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.

The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.

The Lord is…gracious

That means God is inclined to show you favor and likes to do good things for you. Some people think that God is sometimes in a bad mood. No, God is always in a favourable mood. He is leaning towards you with favour.

The Lord is…full of compassion

He is absolutely overflowing with love for you. He cares deeply about everything that concerns you and has promised never to leave or forsake you. Because He loves you as a father, He wants you to succeed and be blessed even more than you do.

The Lord is…slow to anger and great in mercy

When you disobey Him or make a mistake, He’s not quick to punish you or make you pay. He just asks you to repent and confess your sin so that He can forgive it and help you get back inside His circle of Blessing. Even if you’ve been a repeat offender and you are afraid you’ve worn out God’s patience, He’ll still receive you with open arms when you turn to Him. God does not keep a record of all the wrongs done to Him.

The Lord is…good to all and His tender mercies are over all His works.

God doesn’t have a great plan for one person and a lousy plan for another. He doesn’t love one of His children more than another. He has a glorious plan for every one of us because He loves us equally and He is good to all! His plans for each person will be different because we are all unique. But you can be sure His plan for you will be just as good for you as mine is for me.

Renew Your Mind

You must renew your mind to the fact that God is good and that He is not the source of all your problems but the source of ALL good in your life. One thing is sure. God is too good to do wrong, too wise to make a mistake. You see, if you think that God is holding out on you and if you think that He is behind all the pain and suffering in your life, then you will find it extremely difficult to trust Him. And it’s your trust in Him that opens the door for Him to come in and rescue you.

You see the goodness of God is the foundation of our faith in Him. The more we know God’s goodness, the more we trust Him. The more we trust Him, the easier it is for us to put our lives into His hands. And only by placing our lives in His hands can we open the way for Him to save us, bless us and work through us.

It’s important for us to have a proper picture and understanding of who our Heavenly Father is.

James 1:13-17 NKJV

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

James 1:13 says, “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”;

In other words, don’t say, “Why is God allowing us? Why is God letting this happen to me? Why is God making me suffer like this?” When you speak like that you are questioning God. It’s okay to ask God a question but don’t question Him. Don’t let the enemy use your mouth to curse God.

Whenever the subject of God’s goodness is discussed among people who are not students of the Bible, one question will invariably arise. All of us have either asked this question ourselves or heard it asked by others:

“If God is so good, why is there so much evil and pain in the world?”

As deep and complicated as that question may sound, the answer is actually quite simple. God is not the only one at work in the earth. There is another spiritual being who constantly opposes Him and that is the devil. Just as God is the source of everything good and perfect in the earth and in our lives, the devil who opposes Him is the source of all evil.

John 10:10 (NKJV)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

“If the devil is so bad”, you might ask, “Why did God give him authority to operate on the earth?” He didn’t. Adam and Eve did. Now before you blame Adam and Eve, Jesus restored the authority they once had and gave it back to us. So we need to examine our lives and see where we are allowing the devil to run havoc in our lives. We don’t need to yield to his temptation like Adam and Eve and he has no right to rule over us. Even though the devil is the ruler of darkness and has authority in the earth, he does not have authority over us.

Luke 10:19 NKJV

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Matthew 18:18 NKJV

Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

God has a good plan for each one of us.

1 Corinthians 2:7-16 NLT

No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
    and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
    for those who love him.”

10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 16 For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

Word from the Lord through Kenneth Copeland, June 30, 2014

There are things available to you right now in the realm of the spirit,’ saith The LORD, ‘that are far beyond your ability to reason it out. So lay aside the reason. Raise up your faith; exercise your faith and gratitude toward Me and I’ll show you things that will take your mind a while to grasp.

God is not withholding any good thing from us.

Psalm 84:11 NKJV

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Psalm 27:13 NKJV

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

We will have to keep on believing in the midst of negative circumstances and impossible situations that God is good and that He has good stored up for us. We are going to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
