We’ve been looking at some of the common things that most people are driven by. We said many people are driven by:

1. Guilt,

2. Resentment and anger,

3. Fear,

4. Materialism

5. The Need for Approval.

Many people are driven by guilt.

Today we will look at how…

Many people are driven by fear

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Billy Sunday said, “Fear knocked on the door, faith answered and nobody was there.”

When we answer every fearful thought and situation with faith in God’s Word, we will find fear always fleeing from us.

Fears, like babies, grow larger by nursing them. Stop feeding your fears and start feeding your faith.

How do you feed your faith? By continually hearing the Word of God.

Romans 10:17 NKJV

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Feed your faith and starve your doubts. The cure for unbelief is feeding your faith continually with the Word of God.

God has not given you a spirit of fear so don’t tolerate it because fear tolerated is faith contaminated.

When you tolerate fear and allow it to take over your life, it will stop your faith from working. Get out of fear and get back into faith.

An old Swedish proverb says: Worry gives a small thing a big shadow.

Psalm 27:1-3 NKJV

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh,

My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.

Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.

Matthew 14:22-36 NKJV

Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

You need to send the multitudes away especially on social media and go up the mountain and get alone with God in prayer.

You will find yourself walking in the Supernatural just like Jesus did on the water. Start praying more in tongues. Kenneth Hagin said, “praying in tongues is the door into the Supernatural.”

24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.  33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

It’s time for some of you to step out of your limitations and go over to the other side. Like Peter, rather be a wet water walker than a dry boat Christian. Stop playing it safe and start moving out of your comfort zone. Step out and take a risk. God has more ahead for you.

Fear holds you back from flexing your risk muscle.

We must act in spite of fear not because of it.

If you are afraid to step up to the plate you will never hit a home run.

Fear is faith that it won’t work out.

Fear can keep you from going where you could have won.

Don’t let your fears steal from you and prevent you from pursuing your dream.

Always be on your guard against your imagination. How many lions it creates in our paths, and so easily! And we suffer so much if we do not turn a deaf ear to its tales and suggestions. (George Porter)

When hard times come, they’re never as hard as they look. That’s so important, I’m going to say it again. Hard times are not as hard as they look – unless you’re looking in the wrong place, through the wrong eyes, thinking the wrong thoughts, and imitating the wrong people.

2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV

While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I break every fear barrier off your life right now in Jesus name. It’s time for you to rise up. It’s time for you to break through every limitation that fear has put on you.

It’s time for you to come out and stop living in the dungeon of fear and get back into the household of faith where you belong.

It’s time for you to step up to the plate and hit a home run. You are a winner and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even your faith (1 John 5:4)
