God’s will for everyone of His children is to live debt-free lives. Jesus came to set us free from the spirit of debt and to no longer be slaves to any lender.
Proverbs 22:7 NAS
The borrower becomes the lenders slave.
I don’t think you enjoy being a slave to the lender and neither does God. God wants you to owe no man anything.
Romans 13:8 Amp
Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another…
If God instructs us to keep out of debt and to owe no man anything, then surely it is possible because God will not ask us to do something that is impossible.
In Deuteronomy 28:1-14 it talks about the Blessing of Abraham that we have inherited. From verse 15-68 it begins to list all the curses that you and I have been redeemed from. Now look at what it says about lending and borrowing.
Deuteronomy 28:12 NKJV
…You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. This verse comes under the Blessing. This is part of the blessing of Abraham that we have inherited.
Deuteronomy 28:44 NKJV
He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. This verse comes under the curse which we’ve been redeemed from.
It says they will lend to us, and be the head and we will be the tail. That is not God’s will for your life. Christ has redeemed you from the curse of poverty, lack and debt. You are the head and not the tail. You are above and not beneath and You are supposed to lend and not borrow.
In other words, God is going to bless you with such abundance that you won’t need to borrow.
Ecclesiastes 10:7 NKJV
I have seen servants on horses, while princes walk on the ground like servants.
That is not God’s will for you. You are a child of the King and you are not supposed to walk on the ground as a servant while your servants ride on horses. You are a prince and God has seated you with princes, the princes of His people.
Psalm 113:7-8 NKJV
He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, 8 That He may seat him with princes—With the princes of His people.
An example of Debt Cancellation
2 Kings 6:5-6 NKJV
But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”
6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.
God delivered this man from his debt. The axe which he was using was borrowed and did not belong to him. The axe head fell into the water but God released His supernatural power, an anointing for debt release and caused the axe head to float. This man was set free from becoming a slave to the person who loaned him the axe.
God can do the same for you. As we step out in faith, take Him at His Word, believe His promises, He will release His anointing for debt cancellation to deliver you from any debt. God is no respecter of persons. If He did it for this man, He will do it for you.
His miracle of debt cancellation came out of the man of God’s mouth.
I declare out of my mouth today, that miracles of debt cancellation begins now in your life. I release the anointing for debt cancellation and debt release over you now. I declare that you are out of debt, your needs are met and you have plenty more to put in store and you will never be broke again another day in your life. Miracles of debt cancellation is released over your life, your family and business right now in Jesus name.
Matthew 6:12 NKJV
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
One way to see cancellation of your debts, is to cancel the debts of the people who owe you. Forgive them and release it. You haven’t lost the money or the goods. Sow it as a seed and turn your hurt into a harvest. God will cause a hundredfold harvest to come back to you.
God has a process to get you out of debt and to live a better life.
1. Make a decision to come out of debt.
Unless you make a quality decision to stay out of debt, you will always vacillate and go back and forth. Begin to make a list of all the people and organizations that you owe and write it down starting from the lowest down to the highest amount. Become organized and see what you owe. Gather all your accounts and see what’s going on. Don’t bury your head in the sand. Deal with it.
Proverbs 27:23 NKJV
Be diligent to know the state of your flocks.
Be humble where your creditors are concerned. Apologize if you are not able to pay. Phone them. Go and see them and don’t stay away. Be a person of integrity. Tell them that you are not running away. Let them know that you are committed to paying it off. And when you do get extra income, go pay off your debt first. Don’t go and buy things that you don’t need right now.
2 Kings 4:7 NKJV
Then she came and told the man of God. He said; Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons live on the rest.
Notice the order: pay your debt first and then live on the rest.
So stop making debt and work with God to get you out of what you in now. You can’t be extravagant when you are trying to come out of debt. Begin to organize yourself. Work with a budget. See where your money is going and assess each thing that you do or buy or spend. Make a decision to come out of debt.
Next week we will continue to look at the process that God has given us to live Debt-Free lives.
