When God created us, He gave us a gift, the gift of choice.
Our lives are framed by the choices we make everyday.
Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.
God gave us the power to choose. We can either choose life or we can choose death. If you choose life, the results will be blessing. If you choose death, the results will be the curse.
Did you know that the choices you make do not only affect you but also your descendants, your children? So be careful how you choose.
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin brings death. When people choose a lifestyle of sin, when they choose to keep indulging in sinful activities, people tend to blame God and others when bad consequences begin to manifest. But God is not the One behind the bad consequences, it’s the result of bad choices.
You see curseville is out there. If you don't want to end up in that place, turn around and get on the road that leads to the Blessing.
The blessing is the empowerment to succeed, whereas the curse is the empowerment to fail.
When people choose to rob God with their tithes and offerings they end up empowering the curse that is out there.
Malachi 3:8-9 NKJV
Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, in what way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me…
But when people choose to honor God with their tithes and offerings and decide not to be a God robber, they empower the blessing, it gets poured out on them and they are protected from the curse and curseville that is out there.
Malachi 3:10 NKJV
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.
I know that many people don’t like to hear this but it’s the truth anyway. Where you are right now is a result of the choices you made in the past and where you will be in the future, will be a result of the choices you make today.
Now someone might say, “but the things that have happened to me were not a result of my choices, I never chose that”. I agree with you, but how you respond to what happened to you is your choice.
Everyone has the right to choose but once we have chosen, we become servants to that choice. So be careful how you choose.
It’s important for us to realize that God cannot make the choice for us. He will inspire and convict us. He will empower us, He will minister and speak to us but He will not force our hand or choose for us.
You must be able to make choices and decisions without being influenced by others. Sometimes we are more concerned with what others think of us than what God thinks, so we worship at the altar of acceptance.
But in trying to be accepted there is the danger of compromising the very things we are called to stand for.
John 12:42-43 NKJV
Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
I want my praises to come from God instead of man.
1 Kings 18:21 MSG
Elijah challenged the people: “How long are you going to sit on the fence? If GOD is the real God, follow him; if it’s Baal, follow him. Make up your minds!”
It’s time to make up your mind. Decide to choose God and His ways. Choose life. Choose blessing. Choose the Word.
Like Joshua, choose to serve the Lord with your family.
Joshua 24:15 NKJV
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
The good news about God is that your last choice is not your last choice. You can make a new choice that will set you on a new path that will create a new cycle of blessing in your life.
God is not counting up all your mistakes, your sins and wrongdoings, He has cancelled them.
2 Corinthians 5:19 AMP
It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
You are forgiven. Learn from your mistakes. Stop blaming yourself and others. Forgive and make some new choices that will create a better future for you and your house.
Even though you can’t go back and make a brand new start, you can start from now and make a brand new ending.
So today is a new day for you. Choose life. You were given the gift of choice.
