2021 is the year of the local church and divine recovery. Over the next 4 weeks, we are going to immerse ourselves in the Word of God concerning our debt freedom and we are going to see divine recovery in our lives.
We are going to experience our freedom from the curse of debt. Yes, debt is a curse. It is not a blessing. It falls under the curse in Deuteronomy 28. Today, we are making a decision to stop living from paycheck to paycheck, making never-ending payments to lenders and being subject to them.
It’s time for us to live debt-free lives because debt freedom is God’s will for us. And living a debt free life is possible because God will not ask us to do something that is impossible. We need to find out what God’s Word has to say about it and flow with His plan to come out. If you are facing a small debt or a mountain of debt, then you need to know that there is no condemnation. If you are in a debt situation, then we need to get rid of all condemnation and go to a place of faith because you and I are on our way out.
We must get into a faith momentum. We must get on the road to debt freedom and not stop until we get there.
It’s God’s will that every one of us enjoy a prosperous life.
Luke 4:18-19 NKJV
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
To peach the acceptable year of the Lord – The time when God is willing to accept of people, or to receive sinners coming to him. The gospel assures us that the guilty “may” return, and that God will graciously receive them.
It also refers to the year of jubilee – the fiftieth year, when the trumpet was blown, and through the whole land proclamation was made of the liberty of Hebrew slaves, of the remission of debts, and of the restoration of possessions to their original families, Leviticus 25:8-13.
We don’t have to wait for 50 years anymore. Jesus is now our Jubilee. He said, “Today, this scripture is fulfilled”. Your jubilee is today. Your debts can be cancelled today. Your possessions must be restored today. He is our Jubilee.
Some of you might not be in debt today. You might not be owing anyone right now, but this message is definitely for you too. Why? Your thinking must come in line with God’s Word now concerning debt freedom and you won’t make some dangerous mistakes in the future. One of the mistakes I see people make is, becoming surety for somebody else’s debts. Big mistake. The bible is clear on that. Don’t do it.
Proverbs 6:1-5 NLT
My child, if you have put up security for a friend’s debt
or agreed to guarantee the debt of a stranger—
2 if you have trapped yourself by your agreement
and are caught by what you said—
3 follow my advice and save yourself,
for you have placed yourself at your friend’s mercy.
Now swallow your pride;
go and beg to have your name erased.
4 Don’t put it off; do it now!
Don’t rest until you do.
5 Save yourself like a gazelle escaping from a hunter,
like a bird fleeing from a net.
Proverbs 11:15 NLT
There’s danger in putting up security for a stranger’s debt; it’s safer not to guarantee another person’s debt.
Many times the person wants you to stand surety for him because he was in a financial bind before.
Proverbs 22:6-7 AMPC
Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it. 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Can you see how those two verses can go together. Children need to be trained not to be servants to lenders. When you and I become borrowers and see ourselves continually as borrowers, then we become servants, slaves to the lender.
Ecclesiastes 10:7 AMPC
I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking like slaves on the earth.
That’s a wrong picture. We the church should be on horses like princes, not walking like slaves on the earth. Stop seeing yourself as the borrower. Start seeing yourself as the lender, the giver, the blessed, as God’s distribution centre.
Our motivation for accumulation is distribution. The world’s motivation for accumulation is acquisition.
And God said in His Word that we will be the lenders and not the borrowers.
Say, “I am the lender, not the borrower.
Deuteronomy 28:12-13 AMPC
The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.
That is God’s will for you. To lend and not borrow. Because you are the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. So our days of living from paycheck to paycheck, making never-ending payments to lenders and being subject to them are over forever.
Deuteronomy 28:12 AMPC
The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
In other words, God is going to bless you and the work of your hands with such an abundance, that you won’t need to borrow. The Lord is going to do it. He is your Source, not your job, not your business. He is giving you the rain. He is blessing all the work of your hand. He is blessing you with such an abundance that you won’t need to borrow. His grace is doing it. His grace has given it.
He will bless the work of your hands. Put your hands to something. Don’t be lazy. God will not bless laziness. Be diligent. Also, be faithful. Start with A job and God will bring you into THE job.
Some people have this idea that one day they will just wake up and be rich. They have it half right, because eventually they do wake up. God has given you the power to get wealth.
Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
What is that power? It is The Blessing of Abraham and it’s in you. The power to get wealth is in you. Don’t look to the outside, it’s in you. The plan to come out of debt is in you. Receive the power.
- Lord, I receive your power. It’s in me. I have the power to get wealth
- God has a Spirit-led debt-cancellation plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11)
- I receive God’s plan by faith—and I do not doubt (James 1:5-8)
- God’s plan comes out of the realm of the spirit—not the natural (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)
- I have the ability to hear God’s plan (Psalm 85:8)
- I am obedient to God’s plan. Whatever He tells me to do, I will do it (Isaiah 1:19)
Proverbs 10:22 KJV
THE BLESSING of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
What’s making you rich? The Blessing of the Lord. The Blessing of Abraham. The same Blessing that made Abraham, Isaac and Jacob very rich, extremely rich, extravagantly rich, excessively rich, is the same Blessing that is in you. You inherited it. It was given to you and now you must take it.
Galatians 3:13-14 AMPC
Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); 14 To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit.
You are redeemed from the curse. So, you are not under a financial curse anymore, you are now under the Blessing of Abraham. Jesus is our debt freedom and He nailed our debt to the cross. We are debt free. Say, “I’m debt free”.
Colossians 2:14-15 AMPC
Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross. 15 [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
Romans 13:8 AMPC
Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another…
If God instructs us to keep out of debt and to owe no man anything, then surely it is possible because God will not ask us to do something that is impossible. We need to train ourselves to go to God. We have been trained to go to the world, that Babylonian system that makes us slaves.
Debt is a replacement covenant. It is going to someone else when you should have gone to God.
When you go to the bank, you are making a covenant with them, you are signing documents that brings you into agreement with their rules and regulations and whatever is on them starts coming into your life too. Every demon of pain, strife, torment and burden. We must train ourselves to go to God and trust Him to provide. We are getting on this road to debt freedom and we are not going to stop until we get there.
- Make a Quality Decision
Like any spiritual victory, becoming debt free begins with a decision. Being born again and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior is a decision. Walking in the light of His truth and following righteousness is a decision. Forgiving and loving others is a decision. Likewise, becoming debt free is a decision. It may not seem like it’s in your control to even make that decision. It may seem like money is the one calling the shots. But that’s just a lie of the devil.
YOU have dominion—you have control by the authority and grace of God. Now, it’s up to you to make a quality decision to live debt free for the rest of your life. You are only one decision away from your debt freedom.
What is a quality decision?
Well, it isn’t just a nice idea you hope to achieve. It isn’t something you give yourself the option of abandoning. A quality decision is one that settles the issue forever. That means it is no longer an option to go to the bank and borrow money—that’s over. You don’t do that anymore. Oh, that’s a hard pill to swallow.
Once you’ve made a quality decision, there is no retreat and no turning back, no more room for debate or argument—it simply doesn’t come to the table anytime you discuss what you’re believing for. You and your spouse and your family have to make this decision together. Because of the pressure to just buy, buy, buy, people are getting more and more into debt and it’s choking them to death financially.
God is not prospering us so that we can buy and buy and buy. God is prospering us so that we can give and give and give.
Let’s face it—you’ll have plenty of opportunities in the future to be tempted to borrow money. It seems quick and easy, “everyone” is doing it, and you might even think you’ll never be able to acquire what you need without going into debt.
Listen: Abraham had Ishmael and Isaac. Ishmael represents the flesh. Isaac represents the promise. It was easy to get Ishmael but it was very difficult to get rid of his mistake. Getting into debt is easy. Getting out is not so easy. But thank God for Jesus our Jubilee. He is here. The anointing to remove that debt is here and it’s going to be easy.
Even when we miss it, Jesus is the Great Rectifier, the Great Changer and the Great One of Grace that turns our mistakes for our good.
A quality decision protects you from compromising—it forces you to stand in faith, to live by the Word of God, and to conquer every financial mountain with an overwhelming victory—one that can only be enjoyed without taking on debt. If you are in debt right now, and you are seeking to pursue and achieve a debt-free life, remember—there is no condemnation. God does not want you to live in guilt or shame over past mistakes.
Kenneth Copeland once said, “The moment you make the quality decision to be debt free, God sees you debt free.”
When God sees you debt free, He will meet you at your quality decision with the supernatural. Things will begin to shift in your financial situation, as you stand firm in your resolve to become and remain debt free.
Word from the Lord through Kenneth Copeland at the West Coast Believers’ Convention, Monday, July 9, 2007
The manifestation of The Blessing is at an all-time high. You are approaching a “Blessing manifestation of glory” that is an explosion in ways and intensity that the human race has never seen before.
The Blessing will surround you. The Blessing will incase you. You will learn to walk in the secret place of the Most High God, blessed in His Blessing, blessed in His glory, blessed in your comings, blessed in your goings and blessed in your pocketbook.
All debt will have to get up and leave you the way leprosy left the lepers of old. Debt is financial sickness. It is financial leprosy. It is an attempt to do with the natural world’s monies and abilities what I created The Blessing to do for you. Only, it is a burden and not a blessing. Debt is part of the curse.
If you will begin to confess the Word, you will be shocked and thrilled at how quickly you will have the glory arise and drive the debt out of your life. If you will bring your tithe to Me and spend time with Me, tithing that tithe to Me, I will teach you and I will train you and I will show you how to be debt free.
I will bless you beyond your means. I will bless you beyond your income. I will bless you beyond your salaries. I will bless you beyond anything you have ever known before. I will show you things that you have never heard of before. You will take advantage of those things and be financially blessed. I will bring such a financial blessing upon you that you won’t have any idea where it came from. It has come to an explosive place.
I am ready, saith the Lord, if you will begin to confess it, walk in it and make it a priority in your life. Then, the glory will manifest in the midst and you will give Me praise. I will come and visit you and together, we will have a grand time.
If you are ready to make this no-turning-back, quality decision, put your hand on your heart and repeat the following out loud:
“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I make the quality decision to live debt free. I’m coming out of debt right now. I’m staying out of debt. By the power of God’s Word, I am living a debt-free, abundant life by faith. I am now debt free because God sees me debt free. In Jesus’ Name, I am done with debt!”
