The Spirit of Increase (Part 2)

Psalm 115-12-16 NKJV

12 The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great. 14 May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children.15 May you be blessed by the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men.

We said last week…

  1. Our Day of Increase has come.
  2. We Must Become “Increase-Minded”
  3. Don’t settle for less when God’s given you, His best.
  4. We must immerse ourselves in increase scriptures to become increase minded.
  5. Increase is God’s Plan for Man.

God’s Original Plan

Genesis 1:26-28 NKJV

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The first thing God did after He created man was to bless him. His original intent for mankind was that they should be blessed and increase in every area of their lives. The Word “Multiply” in (HEBREW) = Increase. God’s original plan for man was to demonstrate The Spirit of Increase by replicating the Garden of Eden all over the universe.

THE BLESSING was the first word spoken over man. Blessed = Empowered to prosper and increase, as a result of having God’s favor bestowed on your life. Blessed = Continually walking in The Spirit of Increase, in spite of the conditions.

Proverbs 10:22 KJV

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

The Spirit of Increase was continuous.

God’s plan to increase man continued in spite of Adam’s high treason in the Garden.

Genesis 9:1 KJV (to Noah and his sons)

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply [increase], and replenish the earth.

Genesis 12:2 NKJV (to Abram):

I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you
and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.

Genesis 26:12-13 NKJV (to Isaac)

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. 13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;

God’s Plan for Us

Galatians 3:29 NKJV

And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The Spirit of Increase that was upon Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon and up through Jesus, is upon us today. Jesus came and broke the curse of poverty and lack over mankind (Galatians 3:13-14). We are not the sick trying to get healed. We are the healed and the devil tries to steal our health from us. We are not the poor trying to get rich, we are the rich and the devil tries to steal our prosperity and abundance from us. But we must resist him just like we resist sin. We must resist the temptation to be broke.

Say…“ I will never be broke another day in my life”.

2 Corinthians 8:9 NKJV

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

Say…”Jesus took my poverty and made me rich. I’m poor no more”.

He redeemed us from that curse and put us in position:

  1. To walk in the same blessing
  2. To walk in the same increase
  3. To walk in the same favour

So there’s no excuse. Don’t blame sin. Don’t blame your family. Don’t blame your environment. Don’t blame your lack of opportunities. You have the Blessing. Wherever you live, The Blessing will create a garden of Eden. The Blessing will also move you to greener pastures and still waters. We should be walking in a greater degree of The Spirit of Increase because our covenant is a better covenant, founded upon better promises (Hebrews 8:6). God’s plan was and is for us to cultivate the Garden of Eden everywhere we go.

God told me to take the Blessing that He placed on me and come here and start this church. Why? Because He wants His people to experience the Garden of Eden in their lives. He wants them to receive hope, healing and restoration in their lives. You see, wherever God sent me to preach His Word, He never sent me there so that I could be poor like them. He sent me there so that they could be rich like me.

He wants you to walk in and experience the same blessing that makes us rich and adds no sorrow. So, no excuses. Amen. No more blaming anyone. Take your authority over your circumstances and your environment.

Isaiah 51:1-3 NKJV

Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone,And blessed him and increased him.” For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

I prayed and took authority over waste places, wilderness and deserts in my life and commanded the Blessing to bring about comfort, garden of Eden, Joy and gladness, thanksgiving and voice of melody.

Increase in Every Area of Life

3 John 1:2 NKJV

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

AMPC: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way…”

  • Don’t limit increase to money.
  • The Spirit of Increase covers everything.

2 Peter 1:3 NKJV

His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.

Increase in All You Do

Deuteronomy 29:9 AMPC

Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may deal wisely and prosper in all that you do.

Not just hear them, do them. Abraham increased in every area of his life.

Genesis 24:1 AMPC

Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years, and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.

MSG: “in every way”

  1. Spiritual increase

God wants you to increase spiritually. Next time this year, you should be walking in a greater level of God’s Word and His nature. Next time this year, you should be walking in a greater dimension of God’s love and in a deeper level of humility. Every year you should become more and more gracious and kind, not become more and more mean.

1 Peter 2:2 NKJV

As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.

Here the Bible talks about new-born babies. No one is born a full grown human naturally and physically. They are born babies and then grow up. Likewise, no one is born a full grown Christian. You are born a spiritual baby, and then you grow up.

We all understand that babies in the natural cannot do much for themselves. We know that someone else has to be there to help them along. We don’t expect too much out of babies.

But when it comes to spiritual babies, they get saved on Sunday and by Wednesday we are already expecting them to make no mistakes and to live on a level that took us and others many years to get there. Our expectations of them are unrealistic.

You don’t deal with a baby Christian the same way you will deal with someone who has walked with the Lord for over 20 years. You come alongside them, show love towards them and lead them in the right way they should go. It is very important that we follow up on new-born babies spiritually. We must pray with them, encourage them and guide them because they don’t know any better. We are responsible for babies because babies don’t know and babies can’t do much for themselves. In the natural, they can’t walk yet and they can’t dress themselves. In fact, all they do is just eat and all they drink is milk. So spiritual new-born babies, if they receive the pure milk of the Word of God, they will grow thereby.

A new born baby is always putting his hands in his mouth and as they grow a little older and learn to crawl, whatever they find on the floor tends to go into their mouths. Babies are ignorant concerning what should go in their mouths and what shouldn’t and some babies have died as a result of not knowing that. The same thing is true spiritually speaking. We need to be careful what goes into our spiritual mouths. We need to be careful about what we read. There is a saying used in the area of man’s diet, “You are what you eat”. The same thing is true spiritually, “You are what you read”.

Christians many times think nothing at all of gulping down some poisonous doctrine which will poison life spiritually, rob them of their spirituality and ruin their testimony if they accept it. Every now and then some person will rise up and claim that God is busy doing a different thing. They begin to draw other people away from the fundamental truths of God’s Word. Don’t follow people just because they say they are Christians. Check to see what kind of spiritual fruit they are producing in their lives.

God will emphasize certain truths at certain times but God is still interested in saving people and seeing them grow in the basic fundamental doctrine of the Word of God.

But many times Christian people will feed on everything in the world except the right thing and become poisoned with feeding on the wrong thing.

Kenneth E. Hagin talks about a man who was a doctor of divinity. He had read so many books. One day he said this to Kenneth Hagin, “Brother Hagin, I’ll be perfectly honest with you. There are some things I’ve read that I wish I’d never read. They bother me. They hinder me, even though I don’t read them anymore, it hinders my faith and it hinders me in believing God today”.

And they were religious books. It would have been better for him never to have built that into his inner consciousness. I will say like Kenneth Hagin says, “When I start reading something that takes faith out of me instead of putting faith in me, I have enough sense to lay it down right then”. So be careful what you feed upon. Be careful what you watch on TV. Be careful watch you listen to on the radio. Don’t put things in your spirit that will challenge the Word of God and cause confusion.
